NEXT STEP SOUTH AFRICA

Empowered Women • Empower Communities
CIPC Reg: 2026/807410/08 | SARS Tax Ref: 9190301292 | DSD NPO Ref: APPL26-194636
Giving a mother R50 today will not keep her children fed tomorrow. Handouts offer momentary relief; structured work and economic independence build generational stability.
We do not run a charity soup kitchen or distribute temporary relief parcels. Our mission is built on economic empowerment through sustainable work: transitioning sole-breadwinner mothers out of chronic survival-mode into structured, lawful micro-enterprises, municipal by-law compliance, and practical vocational incubation.

1. WHO WE ARE
Next Step South Africa was born out of an urgent, lived truth: in Lenasia and communities across South Africa, default parents—primarily single mothers—carry the crushing weight of household survival alone. We are not an academic research group or an elite charity looking in from the outside. We are sole breadwinners, caregivers, and grassroots women who refuse to remain trapped between survivalist desperation and perpetual dependency.
We are an incorporated Non-Profit Company (Beyond Imbokodo NPC) governed under the South African Companies Act 71 of 2008 and registered with the Department of Social Development. We exist to restore economic sovereignty, human dignity, and emotional resilience to mothers who need to feed their children today while building lasting stability for tomorrow.
2. WHAT WE ARE DOING (OUR MANDATE)
We reject the cycle of pity and handouts. True empowerment is not handing someone R50 to survive until tomorrow; it is equipping her with the skills, tools, and legal protection to earn her own living with pride.
The Zero Cents Initiative: Poverty is a capital trap. A mother who knows how to bake, cook, or sew is often stopped because she cannot afford flour, fabric, or packaging. Under our Zero Cents Initiative, Next Step SA secures donated raw materials and certified equipment, provides hands-on vocational incubation, and allows mothers to produce and sell goods without debt. Once sales are realized, material costs return to the revolving community fund, and the net margin belongs directly to the mother.
Enterprise Accreditation & Municipal Regularization: We transform precarious, survivalist trade into recognized, legally compliant micro-enterprises. Next Step SA actively audits and prepares sole-breadwinner mothers for formal City trading permits, health-certified operations, and demarcated municipal trading zones—establishing commercial dignity and legal security from day one.
Collective Economic Infrastructure: We bridge informal survivalism and formal commercial enterprise by providing shared point-of-sale systems (card machines), collective wholesale buying power, and verifiable trading history to unlock micro-loans and SME funding.
Nervous System & Restorative Healing: Long-term poverty traumatizes the nervous system. We incorporate somatic wellness, regulation techniques, and peer mentorship into our weekly rhythm because a regulated, grounded mother makes empowered decisions for her family.
3. WHAT WE ARE NOT (OUR INDEPENDENCE & NON-AFFILIATION DECLARATION)
To preserve our integrity, our community trust, and our spotless legal standing, Next Step South Africa establishes the following uncompromising institutional boundaries:
Complete Autonomy & Independence: Next Step South Africa (Beyond Imbokodo NPC) is a fully independent, sovereign entity. We are NOT a subsidiary, front, branch, or continuation of any legacy organization, historic trust, street committee, or family-run entity.
Non-Affiliation Policy: We are NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, or beholden to any associations, informal territory brokers, political parties, or sectarian factions. No outside individual or historic group holds governance rights, managerial authority, or operational claim over our vision, our intellectual property, or our members.
Principled Engagement, Not Compromised Coalitions: While we collaborate professionally with statutory public bodies (the City of Johannesburg, Department of Social Development, and law enforcement) within the strict confines of South African law, we do not enter into informal alliances that compromise our clean regulatory standing or drag our mothers into territorial conflicts.
Zero Tolerance for Gatekeeping: We do not participate in street-level intimidation, illegal turf wars, or backroom negotiations. Every trader we represent is protected by the South African Constitution, municipal by-laws, and transparent due process.
4. OUR PLEDGE TO SOUTH AFRICA
We stand on clean ground, with clean hands, and with an unshakeable purpose. We invite every mother who has been overlooked, every woman who is tired of surviving hand-to-mouth, and every ethical community partner who believes in genuine self-reliance to take the Next Step with us.
"Built by default parents. Governed by law. Powered by dignity."
